Safer New Mexico Now

New Mexico’s Leaders in Traffic Safety, DWI Prevention, and Child Passenger Safety

Safer has served New Mexico for over 25 years
Since 1985, Safer New Mexico Now ( Safer) has worked in cooperation with the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) Traffic Safety Bureau (TSB) and state law enforcement agencies to develop, coordinate, implement, and monitor state efforts to promote traffic safety.  As a private, nonprofit organization,  Safer effectively coordinates innovative traffic safety programs and partnerships that promote the combined use of law enforcement, marketing campaigns, media, and education.  Safer advocates for increased motor vehicle occupant protection and decreased traffic-related death and injury.

Operation DWI Superblitzes
The number of alcohol-involved fatalities in New Mexico declined by nearly 40% between 1990 and 2006. Research indicates that public education, combined with highly visible law enforcement, is a powerful tool in decreasing the number of people who drink and drive.

Educational Material from our Injury Prevention Resource Center
The Injury Prevention Resource Center (IPRC) warehouses and distributes traffic safety and injury prevention material, including brochures, posters and promotional items. Find materials for your classroom, event or organization.
